Welcome
The West Virginia Judicial & Lawyer Assistance Program (WVJLAP) is a free & confidential service for Attorneys, Judges, Bar Applicants and Law Students, who may be struggling with issues such as aging, retirement, stress, anxiety, burnout, work/life balance, depression, substance abuse, suicidal ideation, codependency, compulsive behavior, grief, trauma or any other mental/physical/emotional health disorders.  WVJLAP provides education, consultation, assessment, intervention, healthcare referrals, monitoring and peer support.  WVJLAP’s work also contributes to healing of the family system, protection of the public and the improvement of the integrity and reputation of the legal profession. Statistics support that this assistance to an affected lawyer often prevents future consequences and ethical violations, thereby reducing the number of legal, employment and disciplinary actions.

CONFIDENTIALITY:  In order to assure a high degree of trust and confidence, Confidentiality is afforded by Rules of the West Virginia Supreme Court of Appeals and WVJLAP operates independently of the Court, the State Bar and Office of Disciplinary Counsel.
